Creation Series - Day 5

Intro
We are still answering the question “What was the foundation of the Earth tied to?”, This question is being answered in 7 parts, and this is the 5th part of the answer.

This study will look at the 5th day of the creation week. Before we can begin to make applications for this day, it is important to understand what physically happened on day 5 and to also to at least have an idea  about the prophecy found in Rev 13.

Do I need to recap ?
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4

What is rev13 speaking about?
For the most part, most of you here have heard variations of presentations on Rev 13, as a matter of fact just recently Eld. Wilky did a synopsis on this chapter. So my recap of this should not be new to most of you.

Consequently, I will only briefly introduce the subject matters that are pertinent to our study of Creation Day 5. If you are not clear or want a deeper explanation about Rev 13 I implore you to obtain a little book from the ABC called “Daniel and Revelation” by the author Uriah Smith.

Let us pray

Recap rev 13-summarize
Now let’s look at what Rev 13.

Q.        Where did the first beast come from?
a.         The sea, which represents a densely populated area (the sea)

Slide: first beast

Q.        Who is/was this first beast?
A.        this first beast is symbolic of political world powers that will arise over a certain period starting from Babylon (Dan2:45)

Q.        what are this beast’s characteristics?
 A.       Putting aside this beast is representative of the image mentioned in Daniel 2 and all the beasts mentioned in Daniel 7. This beast has several heads and horns.

Q.        What does it mean that I saw one of its head’s wounded to death?
A.        This means that the beast was wounded, and the scripture is emphatic about where the beast was wounded, one of its many heads was wounded.

I have to spend a little time on this one since this is one of the points I want us to remember.

SLIDE 2 : show summation

In 538 A.D. the papal power became a political player, and it reigned for 1260 prophetic days. (Which is 1260 years, 42 months or 3 ½ years, i.e. until 1798 when the pope was imprisoned.) This time frame is especially important to our study of the 5th day of creation.

Slide:lamb-like beast

What does the lamb-like beast represent?
During the very same time period of the wounding of the first beast, a second beast arises.

Q.        Where did the second beast come from?
a.         The land, a not so densely populated area

Q.        What does the second beast represent?
A.        The second beast is symbolic of another world power that should arise

Q.        what are the beast’s characteristics?
 A.       It is lamblike (meaning Christ-like) that speaks like the dragon

This beast continues until his place is taken away, as described in Daniel 7.

SLIDE:3

Q         What are the similarities of the beasts
A.        The dragon
The first beast was given power by the dragon (rev13:2)
The second beast spoke like the dragon and had the dragon’s power (rev 13:11-12)

Now that we have this background we can go on to read our real study text which is taken from Gen 1:20-23

SLIDE:4-6 creation of sea animals/birds

Gen 1:20   And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl [that] may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
1:21   And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
1:22   And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
1:23   And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

SLIDE:7 Many apps one interpretaion

Interpretation
As we always do, before we can begin to make applications we must first understand the interpretation of the verses were are studying.

SLIDE:8-9
So, what literally happened on day 5 of Creation?

On day 5 God brought forth animals from the sea. Some were allowed to roam land and sky and other just the sea.

Let us focus momentarily here. This text tells us that some land animals were created on day 5; but then we find a most strange occurrence on day 6. More land animals were created! Although not a part of this study, let us read it.

SLIDE:10 text-land animals

Gen 1:24   And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
1:25   And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.

If you look at the sequence of the things in creation up to this day, everything that was created was complete on the day when it was created. But here we find a most peculiar event, or a partial creation, which was completed on the following day.

SLIDE:11 Questions

Questions: Now we have some questions to answer
Is there a reason why the sea creatures were created before the land creatures?

Why are the sea creatures told to be fruitful and multiply- i.e. on this day they practiced and prospered?

Is there a reason why some land animals were created on day 5 and another set created on day 6?

For the rest of the duration of this study we shall be trying to answer these questions.  Although I think it is already clear, but we shall look at it anyway.

Before we begin to answer these questions however it becomes needful that we look at another beast. This is the serpent.

SLIDE:12 the serpent

But although we acknoledge the serpent as a snake, the reflection we should have is more like that reflected in rev 13.

Let us look at the reasons why I say this

Gen 3- subtil-(thou sealest up the sum)

SLIDE:12

What kind of beast is the serpent; Land or sea?
Remember on day 5 some of the sea creatures, i.e creatures that came from the sea could fly. One of these creatures was the serpent. Is14:29

We know that the serpent has wings...the dragon also has wings.

SLIDE:13-16 dragon

Leviathan.
Now the serpent assumes different names in scripture, let us look at one of them.

Turn with me to job 41. (Read entire chapter)

What kind of creature is this that God is bragging about, and what is his co-relation to the questions that job has asked?

The truth is that this animal (leviathan called by name here) is symbolic of the Lucifer, and the typology that is being referred to here is that Satan has been defeated.

In this sense the book of job becomes a prophetic book, hence the trials and temptations job faces represent the trials and temptations to be had by the people of God just before the devil is destroyed at the end of time as presented in Rev 13.

Although the entire chapter is devoted to Leviathan and this prophetic application, some of the symbolism is not so clear, but there is one verse that I think is abundantly clear, and it is verse 6 let us read it.

SLIDE:17

41:6   Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
What is this speaking to?

Do you remember the exodus story in Exodus 16, where the people ate quails night and day. The scripture is letting us now that this leviathan was the creature that was broken up to feed these people.

Of course this is not Bro. Greenland’s words. Let us turn to

SLIDE:18

Psalms 74:13   Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
74:14   Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, [and] gavest him [to be] meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

This is just another way of representing the same type, as the story mentioned in job. Now these were actual events but they spoke future ones. As a result this is why we call it a type.

Prophecy
Let us centralize our study just a little more as we wrap up this prophetic symbolism of the existence of this creature leviathan.

SLIDE:19

Isaiah   27:1   In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea.

This text more clearly depicts what we were looking at in the beginning of our study. Here the leviathan is being mentioned as the dragon.  This idea ties in perfectly with

SLIDE:20

Rev12:9  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Tying the knots
O.k. now that we have covered the bases that shall be mentioned, let’s now begin to tie the ends together.

When 4000 years were complete the sun of righteousness was suppose to have come to earth.

After which time the devil is given 3 1/2 prophetic years (which is equivalent to 1260 literal years) to establish his ministry. During this time the beast would be fruitful and multiply, i.e. It would practice and prosper. (It was given unto this beast to make war with the remnant.)

SLIDE:21

since we have already established that a day is a 1000 years. We realize that this prophecy lasting 1260 years is 260 years longer than a day. In other words 4000 + 1260  5260. Which means that day 5 was ended and day 6 had already begun.

It is interesting that this is exactly what is typified on the 5th and 6th day of creation. So the fact that God created the land animals as part of the creation of day 6 is just pointing forward to what would happen when the sea creature more specifically the dragon reigned.

Is this clear?

It therefore means that the second beast we looked at in rev 13 would come into existence some time during the 6000th year existence of the earth from sin.

Application
Although the land was in existence, still sea creatures were called into existence before land animals were.  Why was this? This was a foreshadow of prophetic animals mentioned in revelation 13.

Am I stretching it.

We already know that Christ came on the scene 4000 years after sin. And we know this from our last study of day 4 and the introduction of the lights especially the moon and the sun.

So it follows that if we are looking at a day equaling a thousand years then this means that in the 5000th year from creation we would see the introduction of a sea creature.

Which we did. This period is called the dark ages, and to the day, the prophecy was fulfilled.

SLIDE:17

Appeal
Since you have come to a knowledge of just how close we are to the end of time, please Let’s not forget our mission and make every effort to go out and bring them in. Let no one here you idly saying there is nothing you can do, or I’m O.K. because I’m in. Rev 2:10 warns to be careful lest another come and take our crown.

Let us go out and each one reach one.
