Who shall be saved

 Topic

Opening

Closing: It is well with my soul

Scripture Matth 24:4-13

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceives you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Intro

Have you ever really sat and considered, how does a person live who is expecting Jesus soon return? Some of us think that this means that we should be studying the prophecies so we know what is coming next, but I’m not sure this is all there is to it.

Today I wish to speak to you under the caption who shall be saved.

I ask that you will pray with me as we invite God’s anointing on this topic.

Let us pray.

I am a firm believer in the soon coming of God and the more I think about it. It is the more I realize that I don’t know how I should be acting. I will reveal to you what I have been shown and by God’s grace I hope you too can use this information to guide your own actions.

Before we begin proper let's look at our scripture reading.

There is so much that is in this text that I am tempted to comment on, but in order to stay true to this topic I can only comment on verse 13.

Note that after the the warnings Jesus concludes his little statement with but he that endures to the end.

The funny thing about but is that it negates or makes null the first thing that was said.

If you have ever have someone commend you on a report, but for the “f” grade.

The focus becomes the “F” grade. It no longer matters that you received 6 A’s and 2 B’s it is the fact that you got that one F.

Or have you ever had someone say to you, your outfit looks good but the shoes. The outfit no longer looks good, but it is the shoes that look bad. That becomes the focus of your shoes.

In this very passage Jesus does the same for us.

Yes there shall be earthquakes. Yes there wil be was and rumors of wars, yes there will be plenty of sorrows and people will betray one another but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Note this is a condition that is built upon the premise of enduring.

All I have to do if I am to be saved is be able to endure.

This is Christ's words, it can be taken to the bank. It is sure. This shall be as sure as when God opened His mouth and said let there be light.

He is saying here that you shall certainly be saved. If only you would endure to the end.

But what does enduring tot he end look like?

Parallel

Dan 9:24

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
