scripture text: numbers
12:1-6
12:1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses
because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an
Ethiopian woman.
12:2
And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not
spoken also by us? And the LORD heard [it].
12:3
(Now the man Moses [was] very meek, above all the men which [were] upon
the face of the earth.)
12:4
And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam,
Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came
out.
12:5
And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood [in] the
door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came
forth.
12:6
And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, [I] the
LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, [and] will speak unto him in
a dream.
intro
In every dispensation of the church the Lord has always had
a prophet/mouthpiece to relay his message. Similarly there is a prophet for
this dispensation. The Lord has never left His church in darkness.
On day 4 God created light, and from ever since he has been
providing the means for light on the Earth. Except this time the light now comes
in the form of knowledge/testimony from the mouthpieces that he has ordained.
The big question is, “What dispensation of the church are we
now in? To answer this question we need to turn to
Rev 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness,
where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a
thousand two hundred [and] threescore days.
Bible students what time period are we talking about
here? This is none other than the dark
ages when the church fled to America to escape persecution. During this time
the church did not have a mouthpiece, so the church, just as in the days of
Elijah was in a state of hibernation.
There was no growth, but the truth was being preserved by
God until the time of reformation. Suddenly the church was awakened from
slumber precious truth again was heard from its pulpits.
The prophets are
hated
From even the days of Early Israel the prophets have always
been hated. They were mocked, locked in dungeons and even killed to the extent
that it urged these words from the lips of Christ……….
23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest
the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have
gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under
[her] wings, and ye would not!
23:38
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
23:39
For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say,
Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
My earnest desire is that you do not allow these words to be
fulfilled upon you. Let not one word
from your mouth speak against a mouthpiece that the Lord has ordained.
The devils Plan of
Rejection
The devil has tried and to some extent has been very
successful at getting Israel both physical and spiritual to reject the
prophets. How has he done this? He has
sent false prophet after false prophet to mislead Israel; and after they have
gotten into the mode of rejection, when the true prophet comes the Israelites
still reject Him/Her.
So How then do we
Identify the prophet?
So that we too do not reject the Lord’s prophet it becomes a
necessity that we know what the identifying marks/characteristics of a true
prophet are.
Num 12:6
And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, [I] the
LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, [and] will speak unto him in
a dream.
Visions and dreams
given to prophets
Now all the Major Prophets were given visions, that came to
pass and that is why we acknowledge them as prophets. Let’s take a look at
this.
Gen 15:1
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not,
Abram: I [am] thy shield, [and] thy exceeding great reward.
This speaks to the vision that Abraham had about receiving a
Son
Isaih 1:1 The vision
of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the
days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
This speak to the destruction of Israel if they do not
repent from their abominations
Dan 7:1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a
dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, [and] told
the sum of the matters.
This speaks to the disclosure of the little horn power and the
other kingdoms which were to come on the Earth.
Elijah and the
7000
There are many
prophets but there is one main prophet that God has to do something special for
his church.
Example
Does God use men
only as prophets- women are prophets too they are called prophjetess.
Ex 15:20 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of
Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with
timbrels and with dances.
If there a prophet
among you….identifying the prophet.
jer 28:9 The prophet
which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass,
[then] shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him. (his word
must come to pass)
(must obey the law
other wise they are a false prophet)
isaih 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they
speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them
duet 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a
dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
13:2
And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee,
saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve
them;
13:3
Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer
of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD
your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
13:4
Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his
commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
13:5
And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death;
because he hath spoken to turn [you] away from the LORD your God, which brought
you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to
thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So
shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
Deut 18:22 (the false
prophet should not be afraid of him)
Prov 28:9, 15: 8
What took place at the day of pentecost
2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, [that]
I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see
visions:
Has God left his church without a mouth piece since 2000 years
aga at the day of Pentecost
Christ was a
prophet but was the fulfillment of the law
Heb 1:1 chrsit
fulfilled the typical prophets, abraham, noah moses Elijah, isaih jerimian each
for a different dispensation of the church. (each spoke to a different aspect
of his ministry)
Nmaes
Seth- substitute
Abraham- father of
many nations
Elijah- God is the
creator
Elisha-
There is now more
prophets as it relates to the lord mouth piece. Since Christ has fulfilled that
mandate. IN the same way that moses was established so too was CVhrist
established
Ex 7:1-2 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have
made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
7:2
Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall
speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
The difference between a major prophet and minor prophets.
Her eis being explained the God and the spokeperson, through whom the god
speaks through. And then there a third person i.e. the person/people for whom
the message ids for.
Now Christ is in the heavenly sanc=tuaty intecding for us Now we need to heed hhis message.
Where do we find this
message for the last days. Turn to rev
1:1
Now was John a
prophet of course….Christ is the mediAteor the message comes form the father to
the son and to the
There is no need for
a man to represent him…in the same way that the ssanctuary on earth is no
longer needed
Ellen White
Christ has
fulfilled the prophetical aspects. In the same way that that Chrsit has spoken
to his prophet John he has spoken to sis white she has the same
characteristcics. Let us check it.
isaih 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they
speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them
what is this testimony?
Rev 12:7
What is the
testimony of jesus
Rev 19:10
The lord made
himself kown unto her through visions
But she was not a
prophet she is/was the motuh piece for the Lord.
Which of you get
visions/messages for the world wide church?
The role of a
prophet
The role of a prophet
is to lead the people of God to greater understanding of the already
established truth. Nothing new under the son, just a different/better way of
expressing the same thing.
A prophet does not provide new light but tells you to turn back to the
original. Which was laid down at the foundation of the Earth.
Jude 3
No need for her
words
No need for her writings if we study.
“Word of God is sufficient”
You would have no need for the testimonies
Speaking to Bro J
“Let not sin, therefore, reign in your mortal
body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your
members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto
God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of
righteousness unto God.” [Romans 6:12, 13.] Professed Christians, if there were
no further light given you than that contained in this text, you would be
without excuse in suffering yourselves to be controlled by base passion. The
word of God is sufficient to enlighten the most beclouded mind, and it can be
understood by those who have any wish to understand it. But in order to give
men and women every possible warning, God has sent plain, direct testimonies,
pointing them to the word they have neglected to follow. Yet the light is often
rejected. Those who serve their own lusts, continue to take pleasure in
unrighteousness, notwithstanding the vengeance threatened against those who do
such things. {CTBH 129.1}
Brother J would
confuse the mind by seeking to make it appear that the light God has given
through the Testimonies is an addition to the Word of God, but in this he
presents the matter in a false light. God has seen fit in this manner to bring
the minds of His people to His word, to give them a clearer understanding of
it. The word of God is sufficient to enlighten the most beclouded mind and may
be understood by those who have any desire to understand it. But
notwithstanding all this, some who profess to make the Word of God their study
are found living in direct opposition to its plainest teachings. Then, to leave
men and women without excuse, God gives plain and pointed testimonies, bringing
them back to the word that they have neglected to follow. The word of God
abounds in general principles for the formation of correct habits of living,
and the testimonies, general and personal, have been calculated to call their
attention more especially to these principles. {CCh 92.3}
